I just got my credit card statement, and I thought I was getting the $54.95 service. Why is my charge higher?
You may have ordered another service like a family pack or static ip's. Also included in your monthly amount is the Federal Universal Service Fund (FUSF) charge.

What is the FUSF Charge?
This fee is charged by telecommunications companies like Covad and your local phone company, and is passed through to you by Ionix.

The Universal Service Fund charge is intended to recover the payments that Covad makes to support the federal Universal Service Fund. The Fund ensures that schools, libraries, rural hospitals, and other individuals have access to affordable telecommunications service. All communications providers must contribute to the fund based on revenue incurred during the previous year. Most carriers recover their Universal Service Fund charges from their customers in some form. The fee passed through to you depends on the fee assessed to Covad along with the services you have ordered, and may change slightly from month to month.
