These instructions are for Netscape Version 4.5. Your email settings may be located elsewhere if you are using a different version of Netscape.

Getting Started
If necessary, click on the arrow in front of Mail and Newsgroups, turning it downward, to see the items that fall under this section.

Open Netscape Version 4.5.
Click on "Edit" then "Preferences".
Select "Identity" under "Mail & Newsgroups".

Mail & Newsgroups: Identity
Set your information as indicated.

Identity
Your Name: Your Name
Email address: username@ionix.net
Organization: Your Organization

If you have your own domain name, enter:

Identity
Your Name: Your Name
Email address: username%domain.com@domain.com
Organization: Your Organization

Mail & Newsgroups: Mail Servers
On this screen, enter your smtp server (outgoing mail), and pop server (incoming mail).

Incoming Mail Servers
Add...: mail.ionix.net

Outgoing Mail Servers
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: smtp.ionix.net

The "Add" or "Edit" buttons (under the Incoming Mail Server section) will bring up the "General" tab under the "Mail Server Info" window.

Mail Server Info: General Tab
Enter your information here under the "General" tab.

General
Server Name: mail.ionix.net
Server Type: POP3
User Name: username

If you have your own domain name, enter:

General
Server Name: mail.ionix.net
Server Type: POP3
User Name: username%domain.com

Mail Server Info: POP Tab
Enter your information here under the "POP" tab.

POP
DESELECT: "Leave messages on server"

Click "OK" to continue.
Click "OK" again.

This completes the setup of your e-mail settings. Quit Netscape and restart it for the new settings to work properly.




NETSCAPE VERSION 3.0
These instructions are for Netscape Version 3.0. Your email settings may be located elsewhere if you are using a different version of Netscape.

Getting Started
If necessary, click on the arrow in front of Mail and Newsgroups, turning it downward, to see the items that fall under this section.

Open Netscape Version 3.0.
Click on "Options" then "Mail and News Preferences".
This will take you to the "Servers" tab.

Servers Tab
Configure your SMTP and POP as shown in the diagram below. Enter your e-mail username in the POP user ID box. Remove messages from the server. Enter the News Server as shown for newsgroups.

Mail
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smpt.ionix.net
Incoming Mail (POP) Server: mail.ionix.net
POP user ID: username
Messages are copied from the server to local disk, then: "Removed from the server"

If you have your own domain name, enter:

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smpt.ionix.net
Incoming Mail (POP) Server: mail.ionix.net
POP user ID: username%domain.com
Messages are copied from the server to local disk, then: "Removed from the server"

Identity Tab
Enter your information here. Ensure that your E-mail or Reply-to do NOT contain pop. If you have a domain name, this is where it will go.

Your Email: username@ionix.net
Reply-to address: username@ionix.net
Organization: Your Organization

Signature Flie
Select: None

If you have your own domain name, enter:

Identity
Your Name: Your Name
Your Email: username%domain.com@domain.com
Reply-to address: username%domain.com@domain.com
Organization: Your Organization

Signature Flie
Select: None

Organization
You can save your mail password by checking the box on this screen.

Sort News By
Select: "Subject"

Sort Mail By
Select: "Date"

Select: "Thread News Messages"
Select: "Remeber Mail Password"

Click on the "Apply" button.
Then click on the "OK" button.

This completes the setup of your e-mail settings. Quit Netscape and restart it for the new settings to work properly.
