Outlook Express - Windows

OUTLOOK EXPRESS VERSION 4.71
These instructions are from Outlook Express version 4.71. In other versions, your email settings may be located elsewhere.

Getting Started
Open Outlook Express
Click on "Tools"
Select: "Accounts"
Click on the "Mail" tab.

Mail Tab
If you don’t already have Internet E-mail set up as a service, you will have to add it. Click on the "Add" button.

After adding a new account, click on the "OK" button. That will put you back into the "Mail" screen; there highlight Internet E-mail and select "Properties". This will take you to the "Gerneral" tab.

General Tab
At the "General" tab, put in your name, organization, and your e-mail address; if your reply-to address is different, enter it here.

Mail Account
Personality 1 (or your name)

User information
Name: Your Name or any Perosnality
Organization: Your Organization (if desired)
E-mail address: username@ionix.net
Select: "Include this account when doing a full Send and Receive"

If you have your own domain name, enter:

User information
Name: Your Name or any Perosnality
Organization: Your Organization (if desired)
E-mail address: username%domain.com@domain.com
Select: "Include this account when doing a full Send and Receive"

Servers Tab
At the "Servers" tab you will enter the name of the smtp server and pop mail server as shown. The server is a POP3 server. Under Incoming Mail Server, enter your username and password (you can enter your password at log on time for greater security).

Server information
Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.ionix.net
Incoming mail (POP3): mail.ionix.net
My incoming mail server is a "POP3" server.

Incoming Mail Server
Account name: username
Password: xxxxxxxx

If you have your own domain name, enter:

Incoming Mail Server
Account name: username%domain.com
Password: xxxxxxxx

Connection Tab
Under the "Connection" tab, you must make sure that network or LAN connection is chosen. Do NOT select any other choice, otherwise you will not be able to access your e-mail.

Conncetion
Select: "Conncet using my local area network (LAN)"

Click on the "OK" button.

This completes the setup of your e-mail settings.
